Your initial appointment is 90 minutes in duration. During the first 45 minutes, we comprehensively discuss your main concerns and dive into aspects of your overall health from an integrative medicine perspective. 


During the remainder of your session, you will receive an Acupuncture treatment which may include Cupping, Guasha and Moxibustion. 


You will also be provided any recommended dietary and lifestyle advice as well as supplements and chinese herbal medicine where needed. 


At Inner Compass Healing, we are guided by the principles of integrative medicine and collaborate with our patient's local GP's, specialists and allied health practitioners. 


If you have any recent pathology report or other reports relevant to your condition please bring these along with you. 


We recommend that you have a small meal prior to your treatment, at least 30 minutes before. 


Very fine, stainless steel, single use needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points along the channel which stimulates the body's neural pathways to promote relaxation and healing . The goal is to allow Qi (energy) and Blood to move freely through the body and create harmony and balance. 


The insertion of very fine acupuncture needles endeavours to be as painless as possible. Patients often feel a slight pinch, tingle or a dull heavy sensation. These sensations are a sign the 'De Qi' has been activated, which means the body has activated its vital Qi which can enhance the body's therapeutic effect and healing process. 


Post Acupuncture treatment, patient's may feel tenderness at the acupuncture sites that were needled or stimulated, but should ease after 48-72 hours.


No, Dry Needling involves needling into trigger points within a muscle to exert strong stimulation and a quick response. Dry Needling focuses on the problematic musculoskeletal areas along, whereas Acupucnture treats the body systemically to reduce inflamation, regulate hormones, calm the central nervous system to reduce pain and tension, support energy and improve quality of life. 


At the moment - Inner Compass Healing's main focus is on Acupuncture treatments alone - however herbal medicine prescription will be integrated in the practice very soon.
